Celebrating 50 Years of Country Music at Harvey Dickson's
Saturday 28th September, 2019
In 1969 a few blokes in black hats standing around a campfire one night had a idea... and that idea has shaped the town of Boyup Brook ever since. Their love of Country Music has brought many of the greats of the industry to our town and Country Music has become a part of the fabric of this little farming community.
It all began in the Dickson's barn that used to be the old chaff shed, Barry Barron helped organise it, Errol Meredith played some music and they organised a few bands from Perth. Their first show attracted over 250 people! From there it just grew and grew.
The next year they moved the show to the Garden where it remained until it became so popular they ran out of room. There were people sitting everywhere!
In 1985 it was the 100th Anniversary of the Dickson family arriving in Australia so they moved the show to the Shed , this was the first Boyup Brook Country Music Show before it moved to the football oval in town and has since grown and evolved more each year.
